Last night’s broadcast against the Detroit Red Wings was quite amusing, but Keith Jones also joined at one point and he gave his insight into Matvei Michkov and Travis Konecny.
Let’s start with the amusing part. Flyers’ Head Coach John Tortorella was livid at the referees in the third period. At one point in the third. The Flyers were about to go on the Power Play, as the referee raised his hand signaling a penalty. There was some sort of a bad line change, to include pulling the netminder Samuel Ersson for an extra attack. This led to too many men on the ice, which the Refs never saw and did not blow play dead. In the end, the Flyers did not go to the main advantage, thus it still stayed 5-on-5 hockey.
Tortorella became livid, as he should. I have never personally witnessed the referee signaling a penalty, thus taking it away shortly thereafter (All pictures taken by our very own Jamey Baskow)
What’s amusing about these photos are Matvei Michkov just sitting there. Not flinching at all when Tortorella is infuriated stating his case. More than likely, Michkov has no idea what he’s saying (Thankfully), and Tyson Foerster just laughing. He’s probably laughing at Tortorella’s actions. Either way, it’s pretty funny.
Keith Jones
Keith Jones was on the broadcast last night, as he joined the booth for the start of the second period. The organization is very thrilled with Matvei Michkov, and what? He has been able to accomplish this early in his NHL career especially with the language barrier.
“It’s been great to watch. Great personality, wants to win. Real treat to watch,” Keith Jones, Flyers President of Hockey Operations said on the broadcast of Michkov.
Michkov has really made this a fun season to watch. He just wants to win so bad.
Jones then elaborates on star Forward Travis Konecny. He said the organization is pretty happy he’s locked up for the next eight years:
“He’s had an outstanding season. Danny did a good job getting him under contract for the next eight years.”

1.Find a top tier center to accommodate MM39.
2.Find a way to bring in a top tier defenseman to work with Drysdale and Sanhiem.
Keep Kolvosov and Ersson at goaltending.
Flyers are either playing for the upcoming draft(tanking) or moving to trade some pieces away.Flyers have an excellent core in the pipeline waiting to get to the NHL level, but what nobody understands is it takes time to accomplish this.Goaltenders especially are going to be very good coming up,but all good things take time.Trust in Danny,he’s going to bring a winning team back to Philly.
