Flyers Rookie Camp is a joyful time for the players to show the top brass that they were worthy of a selection, and for the fans that make the trek out to the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ, where the Flyers practice throughout the course of the season.
Due to COVID-19 Flyers Rookie Camp has been jumbled for the past few years, and this has thrown a lot of monkey wrenches into the timing aspect before training camping ensues.
Fortunately, the Flyers have officially released the roster for this year’s Rookie Camp that will run from September 15th through September 18th, and will feature two prospect games against the New York Rangers prospects this Friday and Saturday. Both rookie games will be held at the PPL Center in Lehigh.
A couple of things to note. Zayde Wisdom is on the official roster, which is good news as he missed last year’s rookie camp with a shoulder injury. Tyson Foerster, Elliot Desnoyers, Egor Zamula, Noah Cates, Ronnie Attard, and Samuel Ersson headline this year’s event, as Wade Allison and Morgan Frost have graduated from Rookie Camp.
One last note, the Flyers have seven camp invitees to Rookie Camp, but they do not know if they’ve been invited to main camp yet, which starts next Thursday on September 22nd (On-Ice): Jonathan Lemieux, Theo Rochette, Jacob Gaucher, Mikael Huchette, Tye McSorley, Nolan Maier, and Tyler Savard.
Flyers Rookie Camp schedule:
Thurs. Sept. 15 – 10:15-11:30 AM
Fri. Sept. 16 – 10:30 AM morning skate, 7 PM game vs. Rangers
Sat. Sept. 17 – 10:30 AM morning skate, 5 PM game vs. Rangers
Sun. Sept. 18 – 10:15-11:15 a.m.
All events are free and open to the public, and fans are encouraged to come. This is a chance to get to know some of the prospects that you haven’t been able to see due to injury, or the pandemic.
