After Bernie Parent’s passing in September 2025, the Flyers began a player-of-the-game award for wins: presenting a replica (or the honorary) Bernie Parent goalie mask—iconic white style from his Broad Street Bullies era—to the standout performer.

It’s a fun, sentimental nod to one of the franchise’s greatest players and the two Stanley Cups he backstopped in 1974 and 1975.From recent fan chatter on X (around March 2026), it looks like Nicolas Deslauriers (the tough, veteran forward/enforcer who was with the Flyers at the time) earned that Bernie Parent mask as player of the game after a win. Then, shortly after, he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes the mask went missing.
Alex Bump was the player of the game yesterday , and he was given a paper cut out of the mask. Bump elaborated on that today, “I did (Keep it). I threw it in the trash,” Bump said.

The organization fumbled the cool tradition by trading the guy who just got the honor. Deslauriers is now with Carolina, bringing his physical presence (he’s been in recent scraps, like vs. Tanner Jeannot). The mask thing is just a lighthearted “what are the odds” Flyers moment.
