Alex Bump and Jack Nesbitt killed it at the scrimmage. They both netted two goals a piece, including the Overtime winner by Nesbitt.

Bump’s standout performance at the Flyers’ 2025 Development Camp scrimmage is a sheer reminder that he stands above the breast, in terms of prospects. His dominance in drills, showcasing offensive flair and physicality while scoring key goals in a 3-on-3 scrimmage.

While playing for Western Michigan, Bump led the team to an NCAA National Championship, to which it boosted his stock. Flyers staff, including Assistant General Manager Brent Flahr and development coach Riley Armstrong, praised his growth, physicality (6’2, 200 pounds), and potential to push for an NHL roster spot, especially with Tyson Foerster’s injury creating opportunities. Bump’s confidence and scoring knack make him a prospect to watch for the 2025-26 season.

Jack Nesbitt

Nesbitt indeed made a strong impression at the Flyers’ 2025 Development Camp, held from July 2 to July 6 at the Flyers Training Center in Voorhees, New Jersey. As a 6’4, 186-pound center and the Flyers’ 12th overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, Nesbitt showcased his physicality and potential during the camp, particularly in drills and the concluding 5-on-5 scrimmage on July 6.

Observers, including Flyers Director of Player Development .Riley Armstrong, noted his willingness to engage in “dirty areas” and corner battles, highlighting his physical presence and competitive edge. A notable moment came when Nesbitt demonstrated his size and strength in a battle against prospect Devin Kaplan, earning praise for not shying away from contact.

Former Flyer Wayne Simmonds, who assisted at the camp, drew comparisons between Nesbitt and Flyers veteran Sean Couturier, suggesting Nesbitt’s two-way potential and ability to handle tough matchups. Patrick Sharp, a special advisor to the Flyers’ hockey operations, also lauded Nesbitt’s competitive nature, describing him as a “big body, good skater” who takes pride in shutting down opponents while contributing to team play, even if not always with highlight-reel plays.

For his efforts, Nesbitt potted two goals, including the Overtime winner during the scrimmage, concluding Developmental Camp. This was a heck of a performance from the newly drafted Center, as he offers hope for the future down the middle for the orange and black.
