Congratulations to the Philadelphia Flyers on advancing to the next round. What an effort by the Montreal Canadiens who did a tremendous job this series. It was a tough series, let’s get in to it.

Quick start gets results

The Flyers delivered two goals within the first seven minutes of the game. A start that was not existent all series long. Travis Konecny gets a deflection from a blast by Ivan Provorov, tallying what would have been his first playoff goal in his young career. This was later changed back to Provorov. Provorov’s goal was followed by a goal from Kevin Hayes- his the first of the playoff series. This was what the team needed to do if they wanted to advance tonight and avoid a game 7.

Need the Captain

Giroux has recently been demoted to the third line, with reason. The Captain is struggling to shoot the puck, and the third line of Scott Laughton and Joel Farabee is starting to struggle with the addition of Giroux. This is growing some concern throughout the game. Flyers fans hope that “Captain Claude” can be the Captain indeed as the playoffs wear on.

Defense, Defense, Defense

Throughout the third period (Asides from early in the third), the Flyers didn’t do much on offense, and really looked to shut down the Canadiens to secure the eventual series clinching victory. It was a risky move, but it paid off just like it has all series long. The Flyers are moving on to the next round baby!!!

Carter Hart was phenomenal once again. Who knows where this team would be right now if it weren’t for him. Once again he stood on his head in the second period, and allowed the boys to close out the victory in the third period.

Simply put, the Flyers have to play better in order to beat their next opponent, a New York Islanders team that is well coached, and plays a similar style of defense as the Flyers.

Carter Hart:

“It was something I’ll remember for the rest of my life. It was something special.”

“We just have to compete it feels good. They were coming hard there. Got a lot of key blocks, as well. Really cool to shake hands with Carey Price. He said he will be watching me, and good luck. It was pretty cool.”

Ivan Provorov:

“It feels good to the first one out of the way, we are not done.”

Shayne Gostisbehere:

Ghost on winning their first playoff series:

“It’s pretty special.”
