It’s no secret that the Flyers, like most teams in the NHL are against the cap, or will be after they re-sign their remaining three RFA’s. The Flyers could use a sniper or goal scorer, but unfortunately with the flat cap for the next few seasons it’s highly unlikely that General Manager Chuck Fletcher can attain a proven NHL talent this offseason or next.
However, thanks to the NHL Draft Fletcher can attain one, and groom him to the Flyers liking. With all the stockpiles of youth, and some prospects that are or nearing NHL ready within the Flyers farm system. Now would be a perfect time to move up to snag a bonafide goal scorer or sniper, and a player like Seth Jarvis comes to mind.
Jarvis is flashy, a lightning rod Winger that should catch the eye of Fletcher in the first round. He stands at 5’10 and weighs 172 pounds, but possesses all the skills to be a Flyer. Jarvis is just 18-years-old so he should fill out to be around 185-190 pounds, and he might even get taller, as well.
The flashy Right-Winger in Jarvis was born on February 1, 2002, in Winnipeg, MB, CAN. This native of Canada found a passion, and a love for the sport of hockey at a very young age, and as a matter of fact I’m sure he started skating when he was just 2-3 years old. His passion for the game found himself playing for the Portland Winterhawks in the WHL for the 2019-20 season, where he torched the league for 42 goals, and 56 assists in 58 games played. Jarvis was impressive as he blew by defenders on a nightly basis. Don’t worry Flyers fans he has a knack for shooting the puck, which is a dire need for this young orange and black club.

The Flyers have many playmakers like Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek, and Travis Konecny. Why not groom a young player to be a legit scoring threat everytime he touches the puck. Why not move up for a player that could torch opponents at the Pro level eventually. Jarvis is a Goaltenders nightmare, and the Flyers could move up to around the 18th pick to select him. Bob McKenzie currently has Jarvis ranked at #18 on his list for the NHL Draft.
This 18-year-old, Jarvis is a speedster, that can forecheck with the best of them, and steal pucks. He has great acceleration and his first couple of steps are explosive. Jarvis can change speeds and directions quickly which makes him tough to cover or defend. Moreover, Jarvis’s best skill is he can shoot the puck. This sniper has a killer wrist shot, slapshot, snap shot, you name it he’s as accurate as a button. Jarvis can call his shot, and hit that spot 9.9 times out of ten. He’s also a good Penalty Killer, and has great vision of the ice as he can play the role of a playmaker, as well. Jarvis sets up his teammates as he makes crazy tape to tape passes.
The young prospect in Jarvis really opened some eyes this past season, and showcased his skills wisely in the WHL. This was especially true in the second half of the season, and it’s really ashame he couldn’t prove more worth due to the Coronavirus. Another neat attribute that Jarvis possesses is he’s not afraid of sticking up for himself when the time is right to do such, he’s feisty.
The Winterhawks product, Jarvis just wants to show people he belongs in the NHL. If one has seen him play these past few seasons, then they would have noticed his silky hands, and blazing speed. He has a lethal wrist shot, to go with his good vision of the ice. For his efforts, Jarvis is a comparable to Brendan Gallagher, he’s that good.
I know what Flyers fans are wondering what would it take to move up to around the 15th to 18th pick to snag Jarvis. Well, the 15th pick is held by the Toronto Maple Leafs followed by the Montreal Canadiens (16), Chicago Blackhawks (17), and the New Jersey Devils (18). 1-2 prospects (Not named Morgan Frost or Cam York), their first round pick in 2020 (Pick #23), and possibly a second round pick should be enough to move into a slot to snag Jarvis. Now depending on the return the Flyers may or may not include Shayne Gostisbehere (If a player is received back). It is less than ideal to trade with a Metropolitan rival like the Devils, so that appears unlikely, but remember that is where Mckenzie has him ranked.
Jarvis could pay huge dividends for the Flyers in the future if they selected him. Especially with his blazing speed on the Wing, as he cuts in between defenders. With how loaded the Flyers farm system is right now, this would be the best time for the orange and black to move up and give the fans what they want…a sniper.
Moving up 5 spots in the draft to the 18th pick for Ghost, 1-2 prospects and our first round pick is a huge over pay. This is a 10 player draft then a large group of similarly graded prospects. Moving up should take just a prospects and our first rounder. The prospect should be second tier. And this is predicated on Jarvis being near nhl ready
I would keep ghost get rid of Robert hegetrade a prospect and a second round pick. Ghost has a lot of talent and his offensive talents need to be given a chance.
We should try asking price from Rangers for their prospect Nils Lundgvist, a great young right shooting defender, who currently is breaking records in Sweden! Because Rangers already have right shooting defenders in Trouba, Deangelo and Fox blocking his place in their line-up, but we could really use him for next decade! I would be open to almost any price! We must draft great players in the first two rounds of the draft, and then in case we cant get any other high picks from trade”s of Ghost and JVR, we must go in later rounds of draft for boom or bust prospects, because our bottom-six do not need players, cause Ron Hextall has drafted players for those places!
Excuse me, i meant that Hextall has drafted well, and as a result, we have every year prospects coming and trying to make the first team! So they can be trusted to play bottom six minutes! I expect big seasons from defenders York, and Zamula and hopefully Attard and forwards Rattcliffe and O”Brian and of course Frost, who i hope can take second-line center position and thus push Hayes to third! Everything Patrick does is a bonus!
We should trade such prospects like German Robtsov and Pascal Leberge, who were both high picks, and thus can give the best value in return!
