The Trade Deadline has come and gone. With all the player movement that’s occurred the NHL landscape looks a lot different. From a Flyers perspective 5 players in total have now been moved to different teams. This would include Claude Giroux, Justin Braun, Derick Brassard, Connor Bunnaman and German Rubtsov. In return for these players the Flyers cumulatively received Owen Tippett, a 2024 1st Round Pick, two 2023 3rd round picks, and a 2023 4th round pick.

Overall, the Flyers and General Manager Chuck Fletcher received some good value for the team’s unrestricted free agents. More importantly though, with the Trade Deadline coming and going it almost seems as though there is a different aura around this Flyers team moving forward. I don’t mean that in a sense that they’re suddenly going to be this amazing team or anything close to it. But it feels like a new era of Flyers hockey has begun. Maybe this thought process is related to Claude Giroux being traded after such a long tenure with the team. As the face of the franchise he did epitomize Flyers hockey for the last decade plus. Nevertheless, change is here for the Philadelphia Flyers. If Chuck Fletcher’s press conferences over these past two days are any indication, it’s likely more change and opportunity for younger players within the Flyers organization is on its way moving forward.

Another interesting topic that was addressed is the latest Flyers win over the Islanders and our initial reaction to Owen Tippett’s debut as a Flyer. To wrap up the episode Yariv and I touch on the remainder of the most notable Trade Deadline deals around the NHL and who we thought were the Trade Deadline winners with the acquisitions they made.
