As soon as the Stadium Series rolled in at MetLife Stadium, it was over just like that in the blink of an eye. It was a lot of fun, there was tailgating, Flyers fans, cornhole, football, Gritty running around naked again outdoors. What more can one ask for in a fun-filled weekend, filled with outdoor hockey or pond hockey as some call it.

Owen Tippett had a great game last night against the New Jersey Devils, as did Travis Konecny. Tippett finish the game with two goals and Travis Konecny finish the game with two assists. Even though the Flyers didn’t get the end result they wanted, here are some neat Stadium Series Flyeresque numbers.

Made History

Owen Tippett became the first Flyer to score two or more goals in an outdoor game.

Nick Seeler scored his first goal of the season, and it was his first goal in 68 games played. This was also his first ever outdoor game goal. Seeler also registered a career high five shots on net, so he was feeling it last night.

Morgan Frost skated in his first ever outdoor game in the NHL. He registered an assist for his efforts.

Egor Zamula also skated in his first outdoor game. His assist not only marks his first point in an outdoor game, but it was also the first point against the New Jersey Devils.

Scott Laughton skated in his third outdoor game as a Flyer, and believe it or not it was his first outdoor game he recorded a point. He registered an assist last night.

Samuel Ersson’s parents flew in from Sweden for the outdoor game to watch their son playing his first NHL outdoor game.

Garnet Hathaway

Hathaway was the mastermind behind the team donning Rocky Balboa gear, as they all Departed the bus en route into MetLife Stadium. Fans got a kick out of it, especially the diehard Philly fans.

This team is fun to watch, and the locker room is blissful and vibrant. Noah Cates told me on Friday that I depicted the right word to use for the locker room “Vibrant,” Cates said.

The Flyers are 1-4-1 in outdoor games, so hopefully this is the last one of this decade, or longer. The reason the Flyers are well liked in these type of games are the proud faithful that support the team. Philly fans not only travel, but they geive good ratings or viewership.
