3 Takeaways From The Game
The Flyers took on the NY Rangers, in an important fight to stay in the playoff hunt. Carter Hart got the nod in next. Let’s get into it.
JOEL FARABEE: Farabee is as gritty as can be. He has been one of the most consistent Flyers so far this year. He rarely has had a bad game and does whatever he can to help the team. In the second period, Farabee blocked a hard shot off the ankle and went down immediately afterwards. Limping to the bench, with some help from other players, it looked like Joel might have been out for the count. The Flyers’ forward would eventually return and score an amazing top shelf goal to add to his incredible season so far. What an excellent player he is becoming in front of our eyes.
IVAN PROVOROV HITS A MILESTONE: Ivan Provorov has had an impressive career thus far. He’s one of the top shut down defenseman in the league and racks up the most Minutes on the ice for the Philadelphia Flyers. Tonight he gets his 100th assist of his career, on an assist on Claude Giroux’s 6th goal of the year. Provorov also added a goal tonight to his season. Congrats to the young Flyers defenseman on a great milestone.
SPECIAL TEAMS: The special teams continues to improve. The Flyers had had some chances on the power play as of late, and have taken advantage of them. They get two goals tonight and go, an impressive, 2 for 5 on the power play. Those numbers could have been even more impressive if not for the late goal reversal on an offsides call that took away, what could have been, the game winner from Kevin Hayes. The penalty kill also did well against the Rangers, as it killed off all three the of the Ranger’s opportunities in the game. A welcome sight to see from a team that was spiraling when down or up a man on the ice.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
